A place shaped by connection and intention
Sound of Silence was never meant to be just another safari camp. From the very beginning, the idea was to create a place where guests remain part of their surroundings, not separated from them. Where comfort supports the experience, but never takes it over.
It is about being present. Waking up with the light, hearing the distant sounds at night, and feeling that you are truly here. Not just observing from a distance.
Every choice, from the layout of the camp to the way guests are welcomed, is made with that same intention in mind. Keep it real. Keep it balanced. Keep it connected.
The story behind Sound of Silence
Jan Franken and Inge Daams have spent their lives in hospitality, mainly in the Netherlands. Their work has always revolved around people, food and creating places where others feel welcome.
Alongside this, a deep passion grew: photography, wildlife and the landscapes of East Africa.
After many safaris in Tanzania, the idea started to take shape. Not another luxury lodge, but a camp built around connection. A place where guests remain part of their surroundings, day and night.
From that vision, Sound of Silence was created.

Respect in the safari world is not something you claim
Respect is something you show. For the environment by keeping the experience honest and close to nature. For the people who work here and the communities around us. And for our guests, by offering something real.
